DescriptionDumb-bell bead, glass. Transparent tuquoise-blue with opaque yellow streaks across the ends and opaque white streaks at the waist. A short stump of glass at the waist is presumed to be a result of the manufacturing process.
The bead was found in a modern context on the site. Typologically it might date from anywhere in the Middle or Late Iron Age (c.2nd century BC - 8th century AD), Most of the examples cited in the excavation report appear to be from Ireland (Henderson 1994, 236)
