The window is artistic licence as there is no window which looks over the holms at Sanday. On the wall hangs a picture of the 17th century composer Monteverdi, one of Sir Peter Maxwell Davis's biggest influences. On the desk there is a photo of the composer Sibelius, another great influence. There are a lot of bits and pieces in the painting which give a background to the character of the subject.
