TitleButtons in envelope with partial currency note.
DescriptionButtons (two) composed of fine white thread sewn over a tiny metal ring to form a tight mesh. Accompanied by an envelope on which is written: "A button of the olden time before muslin buttons were invented. It was sewn in 1842. Auntie Moffatt sends it for your museum, it is hand wrought." [NOT Tankerness House Museum - the envelope appears to belong to the 19th century]. Also contains a 5cent postal note printed in 1863.
