DescriptionThe Junkers 88 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire on 17th October 1939 during an attack on the battleship HMS Iron Duke. The plane came down at Pegal Burn, Hoy, and three of the four crew were killed. This was the first German plane to be shot down on British soil by AA guns in World War 2 .
