Earl's Bu, Orphir

Feasting, farming and commerce at the heart of the Orkney Norse Earldom. Archaeological evidence of a Norse mill and drinking hall are presented. Surrounding farm lands have also been identified as well as a network of smaller farms, evidence for trade in the bullion economy with gold working on the site.
