Expeditions to Orkney 1976 and 1977

Newcastle University Conservation Society organised three expeditions to Orkney from 1976 to 1978 with the aim of undertaking practical conservation and natural history projects. In 1976 the group visited Hoy and undertook projects including entomology, fresh water ecology and bird surveying. In 1977 a smaller group returned to continue the bird surveying activities. This report provides the results of a number of bird related projects, as well as others on insects, plant species and a survey of five freshwater lochs.
