The Northern and Western Islands of Scotland: their economy and society in the seventeenth century

This investigation looks at similarities and differences in the economies of the various islands and island groups. In geographical scope the study covers the Hebrides from Islay in the south to Lewis in the north, and the island groups of Orkney and Shetland.
