The Castle of Bergen and The Bishop's Palace at Kirkwall

A study in early Norse architecture. In the first part the author investigates the two principal buildings in the Royal Castle of Bergen, the Great Hall and the Rosencrantz Tower. In the second part the author provides a full investigation of the Bishop's Palace at Kirkwall, the oldest part of which dates from the late twelfth century.
