Tomorrow is a Whole New Day - life on an Orkney island like no other

The author looks back on a life almost entirely spent on the island of Flotta. The island was at the hub of the Royal Navy war fortress of Scapa Flow in two World Wars, and was home to 10,000 servicemen and women. Then, in the 1970s, it was at the centre of the North Sea oil boom and became temporary home to thousands of construction workers during the building of Flotta Oil Handling Terminal.
