The Little General and the Rousay Crofters: crisis and conflict on an Orkney Estate

An account of the events that occurred on Rousay between 1840 and 1890 and the confrontation between General Frederick William Traill-Burroughs and his tenant farmers which culminated in the visit by the Napier Commission (aka the Crofters Commission).
